The El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce is welcoming another standout artist to its upcoming 2025 Heart of the Hills Blues Blast, as Laurie Morvan and her hard-hitting band make their return to El Dorado County. Set to perform at the premier event next Saturday, May 10, Morvan is no stranger to the local blues scene and is sure to deliver a performance packed with passion, precision, and plenty of six-string firepower.

Laurie Morvan Band was a crowd favorite at Coloma Blues Live! during two previous appearances, where her high-energy performance and blazing Stratocaster solos left a lasting impression. Morvan’s musical journey is anything but conventional, built on grit, determination, and a deep love for the blues.

A high-achieving student and athlete, Morvan was salutatorian of her high school, earned 12 varsity letters, and was later inducted into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame. She played both flute and drums in the school band, and her first song was written after learning just three guitar chords on a friend’s acoustic. That spark led to a lifelong musical pursuit, despite detours into engineering and aviation.

After earning a degree in electrical engineering and multiple pilot licenses from the University of Illinois, Morvan moved to Los Angeles for a job in aerospace. There, she joined a rock band and began playing lead guitar—fueling an obsession that would define her career. Her first electric guitar, a white Les Paul Custom, was followed by a red Stratocaster that became her true musical soulmate.

Inspired by Stevie Ray Vaughan’s explosive blues style, Morvan shifted her focus toward original music. She began recording in 1997, all while teaching college math to fund her projects. By the time her third album, Cures What Ails Ya, dropped in 2007, she was receiving national recognition, including features in Guitar Player and Vintage Guitarmagazines. Her 2009 album Fire It Up!—co-produced with Steve Savage—won the Blues Foundation Award for Best Self-Produced CD.

Today, the Laurie Morvan Band tours across the U.S., known for tight musicianship, spirited stage banter, and a powerful sense of audience connection. “Music is the most healing force in the universe,” Morvan often tells fans, “and we, as musicians, have a sacred calling to get out there and share that love and healing with the good folks in this world.”

Her set at Heart of the Hills Blues Blast will be part of a dynamic afternoon of music at District Church’s beautiful outdoor venue in El Dorado Hills Town Center (7000 Rossmore Lane). The festival takes place from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m., with gates opening at noon. General admission tickets are $45 in advance and $55 at the gate (if available). VIP tickets have already sold out. Tickets are available now at www.heartofthehillsmusicfest.org.

Morvan’s performance will be followed by blues powerhouse Albert Cummings, and the evening will close with a headline set from none other than the legendary Fabulous Thunderbirds, returning to the region to top off what promises to be an unforgettable day of music.

Guests are encouraged to visit the event website to review what’s allowed on-site, as well as explore the variety of food trucks and beverage offerings. All proceeds from Heart of the Hills Blues Blast benefit the El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce and its many local programs.
