The internationally acclaimed Highland Divas are bringing their dazzling vocal talents to Folsom, thanks to the efforts of the non-profit Folsom Concert Association (FCA). The trio will perform on Sunday, Jan. 12, on Stage One of the Harris Center for the Arts and a limited number of tickets are still available. 

Comprised of Georgia Johnson, Margaret Kelly, and Marla Kavanaugh, the Highland Divas represent a harmonious blend of diverse musical backgrounds and shared heritage. Two members hail from Scotland, and one from New Zealand, uniting their cultures and talents in a musical journey that spans Irish and Scottish folk traditions to the soaring heights of rock opera.

Having graced venues like Carnegie Hall and Madison Square Garden, the Highland Divas made history as the first purely vocal act to perform at the prestigious Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Their appearance at the Harris Center marks the third event in a five-concert series presented by the FCA, which features nationally and internationally acclaimed performers across a variety of musical genres. The series continues through May 2025.

Margaret Kelly, Falkirk, Scotland; Known for her stirring, powerhouse vocals, Margaret Kelly has performed extensively in Scotland and the United States. A graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York, she has showcased her talent in iconic productions like Les Misérables (Fantine), Cats (Grizabella), and My Fair Lady (Eliza). Margaret has also performed at Broadway’s Lincoln Center and Madison Square Garden and has been a guest artist with orchestras across the U.S. She is a founding member of the Highland Divas and continues to captivate audiences worldwide with her dynamic performances.

Georgia Johnson, Glasgow, Scotland: A true triple threat, Georgia Johnson is a singer, actress, and dancer with an impressive resume that includes performances in Girls Night The Musical and the national tour of Shout! The Mod Musical. A former USO Liberty Bell, she has sung the national anthem at major events and collaborated with the Wounded Warrior Project. Joining the Highland Divas in 2013, Georgia brings her Scottish roots to life through her heartfelt performances of traditional Scots and Irish songs.

Marla Kavanaugh, Dunedin, New Zealand: Marla Kavanaugh’s rich soprano voice has earned her critical acclaim on both operatic and musical theater stages. From starring in The Prince and the Pauper to performing at Central Park’s SummerStage, Marla’s career spans continents and genres. A founding member of the Highland Divas, she has performed at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and internationally at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Her luminous performances continue to inspire and move audiences.

The Highland Divas concert will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 12, at the Harris Center for the Arts, located on the campus of Folsom Lake College at 10 College Parkway in Folsom. With a legacy of 135 concerts over 29 years, the Folsom Concert Association is one of the region’s most accessible and reasonably priced concert series.
