One of Historic Folsom’s iconic entertainment venues is putting in some extra labor on Labor Day weekend to help others in a time of need. This Monday, Powerhouse Pub is hosting a “Benefit for Maui,” complete with plenty of Hawaiian flair, all to benefit victims of the devastating wildfires.
Monday’s event will begin at 11 a.m. on the Monday holiday and continue until 5 p.m. with a number of entertainment acts energizing the Powerhouse stage at 614 Sutter Street in Historic Folsom. $25 is the suggested donation at the door, with proceeds going to the Maui Humane Society and Maui Food Bank, both of which are in dire need of assistance at this time.
Hosted by Doug Thomas of Sacramento’s 96.9 The Eagle Radio Station, the event will feature seven different entertainment acts, including Maui’s own award-winning duo Andrew and Jay Molina sharing their amazing strumming talents as they participate to help those from home. The El Dorado Hills based Aloha Dancers are set to perform during the day, bringing come colorful Hawaiian dance numbers that are sure to make you feel like you are enjoying a day at the islands.
Additional music acts will include Dominator Ukulele that takes the stage at 1:45 and will perform until 2:30. Billy Raney and Slack Key performs from 2:30 until 3:30. Look for the Jazz Ensemble of Steve and Francesca Homan to perform from 3:30 until 4:00 p.m. The entertainment will climax with the Molinas taking the stage at 4:00 p.m. The entertainment will all begin at 1 p.m. starting with the Aloha Dancers.
Entertainment isn’t all the event has to offer. Several food trucks will be on site to provide a variety of eats. Trucks that are expected include Kado’s Asian Grill, Kimo’s Shaved Ice, Drewski’s Famous Grilled Cheers and more. The food will be accompanied by a full bar hosted by Powerhouse Pub.
Several benefit raffles are also scheduled for the affair. Those who participate will have the opportunity to win an autographed ukulele, Hawaiian themed gift baskets and other prizes as well as partake in an artwork auction. Powerhouse Pub is grateful for the donated prizes from Tague Music, the Strum Shop and Folsom’s Nicholson Music Company.
