Summer Twilight Concert Series begins, Hometown Parade marches on and more ahead
Historic Folsom is heating up for summer this month with a series of vibrant events that promise entertainment for all ages. From lively concerts to community parades, the district offers a plethora of activities to engage residents and visitors alike. Here’s a look at the many events on tap this year being presented in part by the Folsom Historic District Association (FHDA).
The month kicks off on June 5 with the Twilight Summer Concert Series, featuring Mumbo Gumbo at the Zittel Family Amphitheater from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. For over 30 years, Mumbo Gumbo has thrilled audiences with their genre-bending Americana sound, earning awards and a loyal following across Northern California. Their vibrant, community-driven performances turn every show into a celebration.
On June 7, the Motherlode Epic – Balance Bike Bash takes place from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. on the 700 block of Sutter Street. This event invites young riders to participate in a fun and safe biking experience, promoting physical activity and community engagement.
The concert series continues on June 12 with Adam Aldama & The Aces, delivering a high-energy mix of throwback hip-hop, R&B, pop, and top 40 hits from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Zittel Family Amphitheater. Known for their electrifying performances, Adam Aldama & The Aces bring a dynamic mix of old-school grooves and contemporary favorites to the stage.
On June 19, Jessica Malone graces the amphitheater stage from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. The award-winning Northern California singer-songwriter offers a soulful blend of folk, jazz, Americana, and blues, creating an intimate yet powerful live experience.
The series concludes on June 26 with The Golden Cadillacs, performing from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Zittel Family Amphitheater. This group of lifelong friends from Northern California delivers twangy, psychedelic guitar sounds paired with rich vocal harmonies, offering a sound that’s both nostalgic and fresh.
On June 27, the Hometown Radio Show brings a Grand Ole Opry-style performance to the Zittel Family Amphitheater from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. This showcase of local talent celebrates the rich musical heritage of the region with live performances that span country, bluegrass, and Americana genres.
The festivities culminate on June 28 with the Hometown Parade from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. along Sutter Street. This beloved tradition features more than 70 entries, including marching bands, color guards, service organizations, historical groups, Wild West reenactors, vintage cars, emergency vehicles, horses, creative floats, neighborhood groups, and appearances by local police and fire departments. The parade route stretches from Scott Street to Reading Street, and attendees are encouraged to set up lawn chairs early to secure a good viewing spot. After the parade, the celebration continues throughout the Historic District with live music at venues like Gaslight Co. and the Folsom Hotel, along with special offers from local businesses.
Throughout the month, visitors can also enjoy the Saturday Farmers Market at the Historic Folsom Station Public Plaza every Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., offering fresh produce, artisan goods, and live music in a vibrant atmosphere.
