Under a canopy of stars, the timeless story of the first Christmas will come to life as more than 300 volunteers present the 2024 Live Nativity, produced by the Folsom Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The family-friendly event, themed “O Come Let Us Adore Him,” will take place from Friday, Dec. 13, through Sunday, Dec. 15, at 2110 California Circle, across from the Folsom Auto Mall.

The outdoor presentation will feature a vibrant retelling of the biblical account of the birth of Jesus Christ. The event includes live actors portraying Mary, Joseph, shepherds, and ornately dressed wisemen, accompanied by an angel choir and a recorded narration from the New Testament.

Performances will run every 15 minutes, beginning at 6 p.m., with the final show starting at 8 p.m. each evening. Admission is free, and reservations, while not required, are encouraged to minimize wait times.

One of the highlights of the Live Nativity is the inclusion of real newborns portraying Baby Jesus. For many children in attendance, the moment the baby cries or moves confirms the authenticity of the scene, adding a layer of magic to the experience.

“We call it a ‘live nativity’ because we want people to feel as though they’ve traveled back in time to that moment in Bethlehem,” organizers explained.

Treaver Hodson, president of the Folsom Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, emphasized the event’s significance as a gift to the community. “This live nativity presentation is our gift to the community, an expression of our love for Jesus Christ, and a chance to honor Him by celebrating His birth,” Hodson said.

Mark Spicer, one of the event organizers, echoed the sentiment, inviting attendees to take a “journey through Bethlehem.” “We want visitors to find peace, feel God’s love, and discover the true meaning of Christmas,” he said.

The event is expected to draw hundreds of families from across the region. For more information and to make a reservation, visit www.livenativity.orgwww.livenativity.org.
