This weekend at Powerhouse Pub is stacked with energy again as five distinct acts bring live music to Historic Folsom across three packed days. From psychedelic rock to grunge, disco-funk to nerdy new wave, and a heavy dose of blues to close things out, there’s something to keep the party going all weekend long.
It all begins Friday, May 16, with a special early show featuring Strange Daze, a tribute band delivering spot-on renditions of The Doors’ most iconic songs and lesser-known deep cuts. Frontman Max Schimm channels Jim Morrison with eerie accuracy, backed by Bruce Gordon on keys, Jason Krist on guitar, Michael Gay on drums, and John Arntz on bass. Together, they recreate the raw magic of the 1960s with a modern stage presence that brings the music alive. The show kicks off at 7:00 p.m.
Later that night, the Powerhouse stage turns up the volume again when Inverness95 takes over at 10:00 p.m. with a three-hour set of pure 1990s and early 2000s alternative rock. Based in Sacramento, the band formed in 2019 and has built a loyal following across Northern California. With high-energy performances that include covers from Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Green Day, Blink-182, and The Smashing Pumpkins, Inverness95 brings the angst, power chords, and nostalgia in full force.
On Saturday, May 17, the groove starts early with a 3:00 p.m. afternoon dance party led by G-Ride. Known for their infectious blend of funk, soul, and disco, the band is a local favorite thanks to their upbeat rhythms and stage presence. From classic dance floor staples to reimagined modern hits, G-Ride keeps the party alive with a show built for movement and feel-good vibes.

As the sun sets Saturday night, things get quirky and electric with The Spazmatics, the beloved nerd-rockers who have earned a cult following across the country for their outrageous costumes and high-energy takes on ’80s new wave classics. Wearing suspenders, bowties, and taped glasses, the band transforms every venue into a retro dance party that blends music, comedy, and theatrical flair. The Spazmatics aren’t just a novelty—they’re tight musicians known for flawless covers of era-defining tracks like “Take On Me,” “Safety Dance,” “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This),” and “Just Can’t Get Enough.” With choreographed moves, on-stage banter, and a nonstop playlist of crowd favorites, their set is a full-on time warp to the days of skinny ties, synthpop, and big hair. The show starts at 10:00 p.m. and consistently draws a full house, so early arrival is encouraged.

The weekend wraps up on Sunday, May 18, with the Powerhouse of Blues series presenting Dennis Jones at 3:00 p.m. A true blues-rock powerhouse, Jones has toured the U.S., Canada, and Europe, and has opened for legends including Johnny Winter, Buddy Guy, George Thorogood, and Tinsley Ellis. Now a headliner in his own right, he delivers scorching guitar solos, smooth vocals, and an electrifying stage presence backed by a rhythm section that’s second to none. Jones seamlessly blends traditional blues with contemporary energy, creating a modern style that resonates across generations. His latest album “About Time” was recently nominated for Best Blues Rock Album at the 2025 Blues Music Awards in Memphis, and he’s the recipient of the Bobby Rush Blues Entertainer Award for Outstanding Musicianship. From his time with The Zac Harmon Band to writing songs for Guitar Shorty, Jones’s roots run deep in the blues, and his live show proves why he’s one of the genre’s most exciting artists today.
