If you had a choice to spend a summer evening eating pizza, enjoying a cold beverage or visiting with some adorable dogs doing great things in our community what would you choose?  Well, you won’t  have to choose this Thursday as one local eatery will be home to all three great things.

This Thursday, July 13, Skipolini’s Pizza and Pasta in Folsom will be home to Pups, Pissza and Pubs, a special fundraiser to benefit the Paw Platoon Placement Program presented by Hearts4Heroes USA. The event takes place from 4 – 8 p.m. Thursday and a portion of the proceeds from the sales of food and beverages during the time period will benefit the organization.

During the event visitors will have the opportunity to visit with first responders as well as the four legged heroes, enjoy a meal or a beverage and do it all for a great cause. If you are a resident of Folsom or nearby, by now you know all about Blitz of the Folsom Fire Department or Cinders of Dignity’s Mercy Hospital in Folsom and how they came about. But if you don’t this is a great time to come learn a bit about Hearts4Heroes and the Paw Platoon Program.

Hearts 4 Heroes was founded by local residents Bruce and Shelley Martell. The organization fully funds all aspects for the dogs and handlers at each station and hospital, with in-house on-site training and group training continued weekly and biweekly.  Their professional teams are committed to the wellness for the dogs and handlers at all times with open communication and training services.

The organization’s goal is to continue placing such therapy dogs within other agencies ahead and continue to help front-line first responders’ mental health and wellness.  Funds raised from Thursday’s event will help to place these special pups in future locations.

Skipolini’s is located at 191 Blue Ravine Road in Folsom. For more information on Hearts4Heroes USA, visit their website at www.hearts4heroes.com.
