The music continues to heat up in Historic Folsom as the Summer Twilight Concert Series enters its third week with a performance by acclaimed Northern California artist Jessica Malone. The free outdoor concert takes place Thursday, June 19, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Zittel Family Amphitheater, where concertgoers are invited to enjoy an evening of soul-stirring vocals, scenic summer vibes, and vibrant community energy.
Jessica Malone crafts music that flows between retro soul, indie folk, and Americana. Her expressive voice—alternating between mellifluous and gritty—carries an emotional honesty that resonates across audiences of all kinds. Whether performing as a solo act or leading a full band, Malone’s shows are known for taking listeners on a musical journey filled with introspection, connection, and joy.
Backed by lush instrumentation that includes upright bass, soaring violin, and rich vocal harmonies, Malone’s performance style moves seamlessly from intimate acoustic ballads to jubilant, full-band celebrations. Her unique tone has drawn comparisons to artists like Nicki Bluhm and Joni Mitchell, yet she brings a presence and magic all her own.
Over the years, Malone has graced the stages of major festivals such as Napa Earth, Davis Music Festival, and BottleRock. She’s also performed at some of the region’s most respected venues, including The Harris Center in Folsom and The Mondavi Center in Davis. Her career highlights include opening for folk legends and roots music icons such as Arlo Guthrie, Joe Craven, Front Country, and John Paul White.
Thursday night’s concert is free to attend and part of the Folsom Historic District Association’s 2025 Summer Twilight Concert Series, which features a different live act each week through August 28. Guests are encouraged to bring low back lawn chairs and enjoy the shows from the grassy amphitheater space. Beer and wine will be available for purchase on site each week, adding to the relaxed, festival-style atmosphere.
Thursday’s concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, but an early arrival to the amphitheater in Historic Folsom’s suggested to secure your spot for the evening. Folsom Times’s Adam Frick will be the official emcee of this week’s event to welcome guest while longtime host Ian Cornell is absent while traveling.
Following Jessica Malone this week, the series keeps the momentum going with a full lineup of diverse and exciting performers. On June 26, fans of country-rock can enjoy the nostalgic harmonies and rich sound of The Golden Cadillacs.
The following night, on Friday, June 27, the Zittel Family Amphitheater will also host the annual Opry-style Hometown Country Radio Show. This special evening concert features a variety of talented artists performing in a Grand Ole Opry-inspired format, celebrating classic and contemporary country music. The event also serves as a lively prelude to the Hometown Parade taking place on Saturday, June 28, continuing the weekend of community celebration in Historic Folsom.
The Thursday night concert series resumes on July 3 with the heartfelt folk stylings of Wildwood Roses, just in time for a patriotic holiday weekend.
Dirty Cello takes the stage on July 10, bringing an electrifying mix of blues, rock, and classical fusion led by powerhouse cellist Rebecca Roudman. On July 17, AKAlive Band turns up the energy with a high-impact show blending modern pop, dance, and funk. Apple Z returns on July 24, known for their polished covers of party anthems and decades-spanning hits.
