EL DORADO HILLS -Members of the El Dorado Hills Fire Department, along with local dignitaries, neighboring agencies, and community members, came together over the weekend to celebrate the decorated career and retirement of a local fire captain.
After 32 years in public service, El Dorado Hills Fire Captain Tom Anselmo has officially hung up his helmet and badge.
“With over 32 years of dedicated service, Tom has been a true pillar of our department and our community,” the department shared.
Anselmo began his career just a little further up the hill at the Cameron Park Fire Department in 1992. In 1998, his journey brought him to the El Dorado Hills Fire Department, where he has served ever since.
Known for his humor, compassion, and dedication, Tom has always left a lasting impact on everyone around him, according to his colleagues in the department.“Whether making us laugh or sharing wisdom wrapped in a joke, Captain Anselmo has been a leader and mentor to us all,” they shared during his send-off.
While they acknowledged their longtime captain for his dedication and service to the department and the community, the El Dorado Hills Fire Department, led by Chief Maurice Johnson, also recognized his family for their support over the years. They thanked his wife, Aimee, as well as his daughters, Brittany and Gianna, for “sharing him” with the department and for the sacrifices they have made in support of his time-demanding and dangerous career.
“Tom, as you step into this new chapter, remember that you will always be a part of the El Dorado Hills Fire family,” added the department in their formal send-off. “Thank you for everything, Captain Anselmo. Enjoy your retirement!”
