City seeks to recognize artists, organizations and cultural leaders before Feb. 25 deadline
FOLSOM — The City of Folsom is making a final call for nominations for its Arts & Culture Achievement Awards, honoring individuals and organizations that contribute to the city’s creative and cultural landscape.
Presented by the Folsom Arts and Culture Commission, the awards were established to celebrate the breadth of artistic expression in the community and to recognize art forms and cultural traditions that reflect Folsom’s diversity. City officials are encouraging residents to submit nominations before the deadline of Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 5 p.m.
Nominations are open across a wide range of disciplines, including visual arts, performing arts, arts education, public art, architecture, design, music, creative writing, archiving, traditional arts and other artistic or cultural practices. Local businesses that make substantial contributions to arts organizations or artists, promote the arts within Folsom or provide art services to the community are also eligible for consideration.
To nominate an individual or organization, community members must complete the city’s online nomination form. The form requests basic contact information for both the nominator and nominee, identification of the award category that best represents the nominee’s work, and a written statement explaining why the nominee should be considered for the award, limited to 500 words. To fill out the nomination form online just CLICK HERE. Supporting materials or work samples may be submitted separately by emailing Tom Hellmann atthellmann@folsom.ca.us.
Questions regarding the nomination process can also be directed to Hellmann at the same email address. City officials note that the online form does not automatically collect personal contact details unless they are voluntarily provided by the person submitting the nomination.
