Dolan’s was known for its full-service bar with a variety of craft and top beers on tap at time  as well as a selection of Irish cocktails. Like many restaurants and other businesses, the 2020  pandemic significantly impacted Dolan’s, resulting in a series of challenges that the business was even able to overcome. In addition to grappling with those financial difficulties, the pub experienced a fell vicimt to interruptions in service due to licensing and related tax issues.

The California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) had suspended the bar’s liquor license in recent years, forcing causing temporary closures that affected them even further. The most recent closure came in in July of 2023, following complications by the Sacramento Business Journal at the time to be with California Department of Tax and Fee Administration.

Despite reopening after the daunting challenges, the business was unable to regain its footing, marking the end of an era for the Irish pub that once served as a local favorite. Presently, many restaurant related businesses are experiencing tough economic times with rising costs and with the added issues from the ABC, this local favorite wasn’t able to whether the storm.

“With a sad and heavy heart, we’re announcing the closure of Dolan’s. Since the original closure due to Covid, we have been unable to thrive and survive. We thank you for your patronage and support over the years,” the business said in a message to its costumers and the community early Wednesday afternoon. .
