It’s the last weekend for what has been a popular production for Sutter Street Theatre, which will draw the curtain this Sunday on a production that has been dazzling audiences with the combination of suspense and musical entertainment for last four weeks.
“The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical,” has been entertaining sold out audiences all month long at the popular community theatre venue located in the heart of Folsom’s Historic District. However, there’s many more productions to come with new shows like Anything Goes, Sleeping Beauty and a special tribute to the music of Patsy Cline in the weeks tom come.
Lightning Thief is the story of the half-blood son of a Greek god, Percy Jackson has newly discovered powers he can’t control, a destiny he doesn’t want, and a mythology textbook’s worth of monsters on his trail. When Zeus’ master lightning bolt is stolen and Percy becomes the prime suspect, he must find and return the bolt to prove his innocence and prevent a war between the gods. But to succeed in his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the thief. He must travel to the underworld and back; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of betrayal by a friend; and come to terms with the father who abandoned him.
Adapted from the best-selling book “The Lightning Thief” by Rick Riordan and featuring a thrilling original rock score, “The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical” is an action-packed mythical adventure “worthy of the gods,” according to Time Out New York. Performances are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. but check the theatre’s website to insure ticket availability.
The Lightning Thief is directed by Mark Cornfield with Musical Direction by Heather Clark and Choreography by Dian Hoel.
