A late-night traffic stop in Folsom earlier this week resulted in the arrest of an Orangevale man on outstanding warrants and additional narcotics-related charges after officers reportedly discovered multiple illegal substances inside his vehicle.

According to the Folsom Police Department, officers conducted a traffic stop Tuesday (Jan. 20), at approximately 11 p.m. During the investigation, officers determined the driver had several outstanding warrants and proceeded with a search of the vehicle.

That search led to the discovery of what police described as a significant amount of suspected narcotics, including methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms and marijuana. The driver, identified as Vincent Stegall of Orangevale, was taken into custody at the scene.

Sacramento County Jail booking records show Stegall was arrested on both an outstanding local warrant and new narcotics-related charges stemming from the traffic stop. Jail records indicate the warrant arrest was tied to a prior misdemeanor charge involving the possession of controlled substances.

In addition to the warrant arrest, Stegall was booked on new charges related to the Jan. 20 incident. Those include possession of more than 28.5 grams of marijuana or more than eight grams of concentrated cannabis, possession of narcotic paraphernalia, and possession of controlled substances. The combined bail for the new charges was set at $10,000, according to jail records.

Stegall’s total bail across both cases was listed at $13,500. Jail records did not indicate a projected release date as of Thursday morning, and the status of any additional outstanding warrants was listed as unknown. Stegall is scheduled to appear in Sacramento County Superior Court on Jan. 29.
