The California State Capitol will once again transform into a destination for wine lovers when Legends of Wine takes place Thursday, Sept. 4, from 6 to 9 p.m. Presented by Visit Sacramento, the evening promises one of the city’s most memorable outdoor gatherings, pairing hand-selected wines with the farm-to-fork flavors that define the region.

Legends of Wine has earned its reputation as one of the cornerstone events of Sacramento’s Farm-to-Fork season. The gathering celebrates a crop that has grown to become Sacramento County’s most valuable agricultural product: wine grapes. Guests will enjoy tastings chosen by international wine authorities Darrell Corti and David Berkley, whose knowledge and palates have long made them icons in the world of fine wines. Their curated lineup includes varietals from dozens of Northern California producers, many of them poured directly by the winemakers who created them.

Alongside the wine, some of Sacramento’s top restaurants and chefs will serve carefully prepared small bites designed to complement the flavors of the evening’s selections. The event highlights the region’s claim as America’s Farm-to-Fork Capital, offering a taste of both its vineyards and its kitchens in one unforgettable setting.

What sets Legends of Wine apart is not only its menu but its atmosphere. The west steps of the State Capitol provide a striking backdrop as guests mingle at dusk, with the marble dome glowing above and live conversation filling the lawn. For attendees from Folsom and surrounding communities, the short trip downtown offers a chance to share in the pride of a regional industry while enjoying a refined yet approachable night out.

Tickets are $75 and include unlimited tastings of both wine and food. The event is open only to those 21 and over, and organizers advise purchasing early as it traditionally sells out. Tickets can be secured now at the official Visit Sacramento website at www.visitsacramento.com/legendsofwine.

Those planning to attend should be prepared for an outdoor experience on the Capitol’s lawn. Flat or comfortable shoes are recommended, as the grounds are grassy and uneven in places. Guests are also encouraged to use rideshare or carpool options for convenience and safety, as parking near the Capitol can be limited during evening events.

From the glow of the Capitol dome to the flavors of vineyards and restaurants across the valley, Legends of Wine is more than a tasting—it is a celebration of the region’s agricultural and culinary identity. On Sept. 4, thousands of guests will gather once more to toast the season, making the event one of the highlights of Sacramento’s cultural calendar.
