Sacramento Regional Transit (SacRT) Light Rail service is not expected to resume Monday, according to an announcement made by SacRT officials Sunday night.
The closure is due to significant damage to the Light Rail system from falling trees, power lines and debris on the tracks throughout the county, the agency explained.
SacRT suspended service earlier the day Sunday as heavy winds and rain moved in, wreaking havoc across the region. Officials made the decision to extend the suspension into Monday after winds continued to cause damage and knock power out across the area Sunday night.
According to SacRT, Crews will work through the night to repair damage and wait for power to be restored in the needed areas , before service can resume.
Shuttle buses between Light Rail stations are in place on the blue and gold lines to serve travelers throughout the day Monday, according to the agency.
