There will be music, worship and the opportunity for dining under the stars in at the Historic Folsom Amphitheater on this a Saturday, Sept. 7, all in celebration of Powerhouse Ministries, a three decades strong Folsom nonprofit that has dedicated countless hours to helping others in some of their darkest times. It’s the Light Up the Dark Music Festival and tickets are already on sale.
The event benefits Powerhouse Ministries and is one of the organization’s major annual fundraisers. The Sept. 7 event features a collection of talented area bands and sure to provide a night entertainment that spectators can immerse themselves. Among those scheduled to perform are the Sky Kings as they return. The roster also includes Kristin Brown from Season 24 of The Voice to the roster this year as well as the Sugar High Band. .
“Light Up the Dark has grown to become one of the stellar annual events at the amphitheater in Folsom’s historic district,” said Billy J. Walsh a Folsom-based musician and producer that has put together the show. “The concert is a full evening of popular regional acts, including Kristen Brown, a competitor on The Voice; the Sky Kings and the Sugar High Band.”
Powerhouse Ministries is a Christian based nonprofit organization which strives to “inspire and empower people to rise above their circumstances, change their lives and impact their community,” according to its mission statement. The organization helps those struggling with addiction, abuse and poverty and helps them transform their lives for the better.
Tickets are $25 for adults for the event, a bargain considering the number of entertainers on stage and all being for a great cause. Children 12 and under are free with adults. Food trucks will be on site to offer a variety of dining options throughout the evening. The proceeds from the ticket sales will help Powerhouse Ministries help others end their battle with addiction, poverty and abuse
The event will take place with the gates opening at 5:30 p.m. for guests to enjoy the food trucks and more and the music will take place from 7 to 10 pm. at the Zittel Family Amphitheater at 200 Wool Street in Historic Folsom.
