One juvenile questioned Friday in second online threat towards El Dorado Hills Schools
A variety of community oriented social media pages and various conversations across the online platform Nextdoor sparked concern Thursday evening among parents of local students in the region concerned about a series of online posts on various platforms threatening possible violence at school facilities. According to local school officials as well as law enforcement, the recent threats are being deemed to be non-credible.
“We are aware of a nationwide social media trend referencing potential violence at schools that had become a local concern for schools in the Sacramento region,” said a statement released by Angela Griffin Ankhelyi, Chief Communications & Community Engagement Officer for the Folsom-Cordova Unified School District.
“No credible safety risk has been identified for any FCUSD school or any school in the Sacramento region, the statement emphasized. “Many local school districts are letting their communities be aware as are we. FCUSD and our law enforcement partners take all threats of violence seriously and continue to monitor this situation. The safety of our students, staff and community is our top priority.”
The district did not share the nature of the content of the threats of concern. While the district cites the newest online threats are not a concern, they do stress if anyone sees anything concerning, online or near a school facility, to report it.
“We remind everyone that if you see something, say something and encourage all to report any concerns to staff or on WeTip,” the statement concludes.
While the threats have been cited as not credible, local authorities in El Dorado County are taking them seriously as well and will continued to be vigilant and investigate any suspicious activity locally an abroad.
“The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office is aware of a social media post referencing threats of violence towards education facilities. There are no specific schools that are mentioned in the social media post. This particular message has been reported to have circulated around various school districts across the greater Sacramento/Northern California region,” said the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department. “The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office takes any and all threats towards schools seriously and investigates these threats. Out of an abundance of caution the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office will remain vigilant, monitor this social media post and communicate with the community educators. Thank you to the community members who “Saw Something and Said Something” alerting the Sheriff’s Office of the circulating social media post.”

Juvenile questioned after specific threats made naming El Dorado Hills’ Schools
Later Friday morning, the El Dorado County Sheriffs Department began investigating a separate social media post that has circulated related to the national wide school threat social media post.
According to investigators, in this post, three schools in El Dorado County were specifically named. The schools named were Rolling Hills Middle School, Marina Village Middle School, and Oak Ridge High School.
According to the report, El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officers and Detectives have been working diligently to investigate this incident. They shared that a juvenile subject. who was responsible for the most recent social media post which named the specific schools was identified and contacted.
“The investigation is ongoing however, currently the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office has determined that the threat was not credible. With that in mind, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office continues to take ANY and ALL threats to our community, especially our schools, extremely serious, the department said in a statement.
