A longtime locally owned salon that once operated multiple locations across the region has closed its remaining Folsom shops, marking the end of nearly two decades in business.
Maribou Salon bid farewell to the community in a social media post last week, announcing that both of its remaining locations in Folsom had permanently shut their doors.
The closures affect two prominent storefronts: one at Palladio Parkway in Palladio at Broadstone and another along Sutter Street in Historic Folsom.
In its public farewell, the salon reflected on its nearly 20-year run and the role it played in the community beyond hair services.
“We have sincerely enjoyed serving our community for the last 20 years, but today we are closing our doors,” the salon wrote. “Maribou has been more than just a salon. It’s been a community – a place for first haircuts and big changes, celebrations and quiet conversations, growth, laughter, and connection. A place where clients became regulars and regulars became friends.”
The message went on to thank those who supported the business throughout its history.
“We are endlessly grateful to every client who sat in our chairs, every stylist who poured their heart into their work, and every person who supported our small local business along the way,” the post continued. “Thank you. You gave Maribou its soul.”
The announcement follows earlier downsizing by the salon earlier this year. Maribou closed a location on Douglas Boulevard in Roseville as well as its Blue Ravine Road salon in Folsom, citing economic struggles at the time. No reason was provided in last week’s post for the decision to close the final two locations.
Efforts to reach the business for additional comment were unsuccessful. Phone calls placed to both Folsom salons were directed to voicemail.
Maribou’s Sutter Street location had been a relatively recent addition to Historic Folsom. The salon relocated there in 2021, opening at 811 Sutter St. in a space previously occupied by Sutter Street Grill.
The salon’s Palladio location operated at 330 Palladio Parkway, Suite 2011, inside one of the Sacramento region’s largest retail and entertainment centers. What will become of that space has not yet been announced.
Founded in 2006, Maribou Salon grew from a single locally rooted operation into a small regional chain before economic headwinds led to its gradual closure, bringing an end to a business that styled generations of local families across Folsom and beyond.
