EL DORADO HILLS – A new era of healthcare is arriving in El Dorado Hills next month as Marshall Medical Center officially opens its latest medical facility in the heart of Town Center. Located at 4201 Town Center Boulevard, the expansive 25,000-square-foot space is set to provide a wide range of outpatient services, bringing convenient, high-quality care closer to residents of western El Dorado County.
The new site marks a significant expansion for Marshall Medical Center, the region’s long-standing nonprofit health system. The facility occupies the same building formerly used exclusively by Blue Shield of California. Marshall has since purchased the building, now sharing it with Blue Shield, which remains a tenant in a portion of the space. Since 2005 the Marshall Family Medicine clinic has operated in the El Dorado Hills Business Park, adding orthopedics & sports medicine in 2016.
“New medical services, and choices, are imperative to a thriving community – expanding access, improving outcomes, and ensuring every individual has the care they deserve close to home,” said Debbie Manning, CEO of the El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce. “We welcome Marshal as they expand their services in El Dorado Hills.”
Opening its doors just as the month of August is ushered in, the new El Dorado Hills location is designed to be a one-stop destination for many of the area’s growing healthcare needs. The modern space includes walk-in orthopedics and sports medicine, same-day primary care appointments, cardiology, podiatry, physical and occupational therapy, and an on-site lab draw station—all under one roof.
“Marshall serves all of the western slope of El Dorado County,” said Siri Nelson, Marshall’s president and CEO in a previous interview while the property was in escrow. “We’re trying to balance our portfolio of services across the area.”
Marshall officials say the goal of the new location is to reduce barriers to care for patients across El Dorado Hills, Cameron Park, and Folsom who previously had to travel farther to access these services.
“This facility is about convenience, access, and continuity of care,” the organization said in its presentation of it annual report. “We’re meeting patients where they are—and bringing our trusted Marshall providers with us.”
Among the most anticipated services is walk-in orthopedic care, allowing patients to receive immediate treatment for sprains, minor fractures, and sports injuries without needing an emergency room visit. Also featured is a same-day primary care clinic, giving families access to quick appointments for urgent but non-emergency health needs.
The physical and occupational therapy wing will offer post-operative rehab, sports recovery, and specialized care such as hand therapy. Patients will also benefit from Marshall’s cardiology and podiatry specialists on-site, with a lab draw station providing diagnostic services in-house.
The facility represents the latest milestone in the more than six-decade history of Marshall Medical Center, which began in 1959 with the opening of its community hospital in Placerville. Named after James W. Marshall, whose discovery of gold in 1848 sparked California’s Gold Rush, the health system has evolved from a 30-bed hospital into a regional leader in care delivery. Today, Marshall serves more than 180,000 residents with a staff of over 1,800 and 200+ physicians.
The organization prides itself on remaining independent and community-governed, distinguishing itself as one of California’s few nonprofit hospital systems not absorbed by a larger network. That independence, officials say, has helped Marshall maintain a patient-centered mission while still expanding and modernizing in step with the region’s growth.
As the new El Dorado Hills facility prepares to open, Marshall is reinforcing its role as a healthcare anchor in the region. From its Level III trauma center and stroke care program to rural access clinics and now its Town Center expansion. Its one of several new medical facilities coming to the region with the addition of Sutter Health and UC Davis building facilities in Folsom as well as the expansion of Dignity Healthy and Kaiser Permanent in the Folsom area.
