Information sought from public to identify suspects in apparent organized burglary
Folsom Police and the owners of a popular restaurant and bar are seeking any information to help identify the suspects who broke into their establishment in the early morning hours Saturday.
Shortly after 3 a.m. Saturday, security cameras at the Corner Tavern and Grill in Folsom captured the break-in. The restaurant, located at 700 Glenn Drive in Folsom, just outside the city’s Historic District, is owned by longtime restaurateurs Dominik and Raquel Bellizzi. They have shared images showing what appeared to be an organized heist in which masked suspects targeted the register and removed the entire safe from the establishment.
The burglary was discovered when employees arrived Saturday morning to open for the day. Security footage captured the two suspects conducting what appeared to be a planned operation, with the thieves seeming to know how to navigate the business’s security system to gain access inside.
After reportedly breaking in using a large, mallet-type hammer, the thieves, wearing hoodies and masks, were captured going directly to the register to take cash. They then proceeded to the office area, where the safe was located. At 3:24 a.m., cameras recorded the suspects wheeling the safe out of the office, through the restaurant, and out of the building, balancing it on a rolling office chair. The suspects reportedly took a supply of liquor as well.
“What became clear to me, at least from looking at the videos, is that they actually knew where to go when they walked in. Taking money from the cash register, they knew exactly where to go after that, which was to our office to take the safe,” Raquel Bellizzi shared with the media Saturday after police investigated the scene.
The Folsom Police Department is reviewing security footage and evidence from the scene as the investigation remains active.
