Get ready for four days of live music at Powerhouse Pub in Historic Folsom. Starting Thursday evening and spanning through late Sunday afternoon, there’s something for everyone at the popular Folsom nightspot. With wet weather in the forecast, it might be the perfect time for a night out indoors.
Start the weekend early with the weekly Country Thursdays show. This week, the venue will host the talented Matt Gage as he returns to Historic Folsom.
Born and raised in Humboldt and Mendocino counties, it’s no surprise that traditional country music heavily influenced Gage. From Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, and Willie Nelson to Hank Williams Jr. and Elvis Presley, the sounds of classic country surrounded him from a young age.
In addition to ’70s country and punk music, Gage credits his updated sound to influences like Jackson Taylor & The Sinners and Shooter Jennings & the .357’s. In 2015, Gage released his debut album, which featured collaborations with Lars Frederiksen and Matt Freeman of the punk band Rancid.
Above all, Gage is a storyteller, blending real-life experiences with the traditional country lifestyle. He has embraced straightforward songwriting while honoring both his country and punk roots. The Matt Gage Band has carved out its own unique sound and path in the music world.
The event starts at 9 p.m. Thursday. Country Thursday events are free to attend, but it’s first-come, first-served for seating. Arrive early if you’re not planning to hit their state-of-the-art LED dance floor.
