Today, Sacramento County Supervisor-elect Rosario Rodriguez has officially announced that she has selected Matt Hedges as her new Chief of Staff. Hedges, an experienced public servant with deep roots in Sacramento politics, starts in his role today.
Matt Hedges brings over a decade of political experience, most recently serving as Chief of Staff to Assemblymember Josh Hoover. During his tenure, he managed both the Capitol and district offices, overseeing a team of staff members and interns and helping Assemblymember Hoover achieve his goals.
“I am honored to join Supervisor-elect Rodriguez’s team and look forward to contributing to the important work she will be doing for our county,” said Hedges. “I believe that strong, strategic leadership is key to tackling the challenges our communities face, and I am excited to help advance Supervisor Rodriguez’s vision for a more prosperous Sacramento County.”
Before his role with Assemblymember Hoover, Hedges served as Chief of Staff to Supervisor Sue Frost where he became well known for his open door policy for constituents and his proactive communication on social media. His prior experience also includes serving as Legislative Director for California State Senator Jean Fuller and Assemblymember Donald Wagner, where he was instrumental in advancing critical legislation and providing policy guidance that resulted in numerous bills becoming law.
In addition to his professional experience, Hedges has been deeply involved in community service. He currently serves as a commissioner of the Folsom Parks and Recreation Commission and has held leadership roles on the Sylvan Cemetery District, Sacramento Metropolitan Cable Television Commission, and many more local boards and commissions.
