Firefighters from both the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District and Folsom Fire Department responded to a structure fire early Sunday morning, where four residents were displaced from their Orangevale home but the home was saved from total destruction due to a fast response by both agencies.

Units from both departments were dispatched at 12:01 a.m. to the reported incident in the 9200 block of Madison Avenue. The 911 call reported the home fire and shared that the residents had all safely evacuated the home on their own.

Upon arrival, the first crews on scene observed smoke coming from the second story of the home and initiated a primary search to confirm all residents had safely evacuated. The residents were reportedly alerted by a working smoke alarm when the fire broke out.

Firefighters launched an aggressive attack on the blaze. According to Sacramento Metro Fire, the lead agency in the incident, the active fire and significant damage were contained to two bedrooms.More than a dozen units responded, including three from Folsom, consisting of two engine crews and Ladder Truck 35.

Firefighters remained on scene for a total of two hours and 44 minutes. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
