Folsom Police closed a section of East Bidwell Street to traffic Monday night to allow officer to perform an investigation following an injury accident involving a pedestrian.

At approximately 10:00 p.m. the department issued a Nixel advisory that the Northbound lanes of East Bidwell would be closed to traffic at Oak Avenue Parkway and were expected to remain closed for an extended period as the department’s traffic collision investigation team is working in the area collecting data. 

At 9:34 p.m. units from the Folsom Fire Department were dispatched to the aforementioned intersection for an injury accident. Folsom’s Engine 38 and Medic Unit 37 responded to the scene.  At least one victim was transported from the scene according to dispatch logs.  The victim transported was a pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and was cooperating with officers. The age of the victim or the extent of their injuries were not disclosed by police.

At this time the Folsom Police Department has not released any further information on the incident as there is an active investigation at the scene. 

The Folsom Police Department reopened the roadway after several hours. At this time no further details on the incident have been released.
