Two victims were reportedly hospitalized following an accident in Folsom Saturday morning that snarled traffic traveling in the eastbound lanes of Highway 50 near the East Bidwell Street interchange.

The personnel from the Folsom Fire Department, El Dorado Hills Fire and Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District responded to the incident at 9:59 a.m. after reports of a vehicle accident with injuries came through the 911 dispatch center. The California Highway Patrol and Folsom Police also responded to the incident.

According to the reports, the driver of a Harley Davidson lost control of his motorcycle and went down while travelling eastbound. The crash ejected by the driver and a female passenger off of the motorcycle and onto the roadway. A total of four medic units responded to the scene.

According to CHP, the extent of the injuries to the victims were classified as being moderate to major. CHP noted that drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the crash and no others were involved in the accident. The crash remains under investigation.

First responders were on the call for just over two hours Saturday. Traffic on eastbound Highway 50 was at a complete stop when the crash first occurred and was then backed up and slowed for several miles during the time personnel were on scene assisting victims and clearing the damaged motorcycle from the roadway.
