GRANITE BAY — A Sunday afternoon crash in Granite Bay claimed the life of a motorcyclist after a collision with a vehicle at the intersection of Auburn Folsom Road and Joe Rodgers Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident was reported at 4:09 p.m. on September 21 when a motorcycle traveling northbound on Auburn Folsom collided with a black BMW that had entered the roadway from Joe Rodgers Road. Investigators said the car pulled out directly in front of the rider, leaving no time to avoid impact.

Emergency crews responded quickly, but the motorcyclist, described by CHP as approximately 70 years old, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The rider’s identity has not been released pending notification of family.

The crash scattered debris across the roadway, prompting a full closure of Auburn Folsom Road for several hours. Tow trucks were called to remove both the motorcycle and the BMW, while officers diverted traffic and conducted their investigation. The roadway reopened later that evening once the scene had been cleared.

CHP officials said DUI does not appear to be a factor in the crash. The investigation remains active as authorities work to determine the full circumstances of the fatal collision.
