After a short break just following the holidays, Folsom’s Sutter Street Theatre is gearing up to raise the curtain on it’s 2024 season with a classic thriller, Dial M for for Murder. The first show of the new year will open on January 26 and kick start a production packed schedule for the year to come at the Historic Folsom community theater.
Dial M for Murder will open to audiences on Feb 2 and will run through February 18. Curtain times for the show will be Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. Sundays at 4:30 p.m.,with the exception of February 11 when the show will go dark.
According to the Sutter Street Theatre playbill, the local production of Dial M for Murder is a new version of the celebrated murder mystery that inspired Alfred Hitchcock’s 1954 masterpiece for the screen and the original book by Fredrick Knott.
Much like the Hitchock classic, the story surrounds its main character, Tony Wendice who is convinced that his wife Margot has been cheating on him. Although it seems that the affair is over, the story doesn’t end there. Tony, in his jealousy, spins a web of suspicion and deception that will tighten around them and ensnare them both in danger, recrimination and murder.
The season opener is is presented in partnership with Kauffmans’ Give Us a Hand Productions and is directed by Janelle Kauffman & Stephen Kauffman who have been involved with numerous Sutter Street Theatre productions.
