VEG ER for Pets opens new Prairie City Road location
FOLSOM — Local pet owners will soon have access to a new level of emergency veterinary care as VEG ER for Pets prepares to open its first Folsom hospital. The national veterinary emergency company announced it will officially open with a ribbon cutting this Wednesday, December 3, at 1860 Prairie City Road, Suite 300.
The new facility will serve families in Folsom, El Dorado Hills, Rancho Cordova, and surrounding communities, offering round-the-clock access to emergency services including surgeries, ultrasounds, x-rays, and other urgent pet care needs. Located off Iron Point Road and minutes from Highway 50, the hospital becomes the second VEG ER for Pets location in Sacramento County and the eleventh in California.
Dr. David Bessler, founder and CEO of VEG ER for Pets, said the company’s approach is designed to change what pet families expect from an emergency visit. “When a pet parent walks into VEG ER for Pets, they will immediately feel they have finally found a place that will provide their family and pet the best emergency veterinary experience that exists,” Bessler said. “Upon entering VEG ER for Pets in Folsom, pet parents will feel a sigh of relief and comfort, as they are greeted with a friendly smile, empathetic attitude, and luxury comforts for them and their pet.”

The company emphasizes a model that removes many of the common stressors associated with emergency veterinary care. When pet owners call the hospital, they speak directly with a licensed veterinarian who can answer medical questions immediately. Once they arrive, triage begins the moment they walk through the door — even before paperwork — eliminating long waits in lobby areas. Pet parents are also encouraged to remain with their pets throughout diagnosis, treatment, surgery, and even overnight hospitalization, a hallmark of the VEG ER for Pets philosophy.
The new Folsom hospital will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays. Its open floor plan is designed to give families visibility into the care process and to see the work of the emergency team in action.
In addition to its medical services, the company supports community pet welfare through “VEG Cares,” an initiative assisting underserved pets facing medical crises. VEG ER for Pets also aids in growing the next generation of veterinarians through scholarships awarded to Doctor of Veterinary Medicine students.
Founded in 2014, VEG ER for Pets now operates more than 100 emergency hospitals nationwide, built around a mission of helping people and their pets during life’s most urgent and stressful moments.
