Another milestone in Folsom’s South of 50 plan area was celebrated Friday as city officials, Choose Folsom representatives, and Sacramento County dignitaries gathered to break ground on Southpointe at Folsom Ranch—a major new commercial development set to transform the corner of East Bidwell Street and Southpointe Drive.

The groundbreaking marks the start of Phase 1 of the project, which will also establish the backbone infrastructure for what is envisioned as a vibrant hub of retail, medical, and office space. The project is strategically located in Folsom Ranch, now bannered as one of the largest master-planned communities in Northern California, encompassing over 3,500 acres of new development.

Southpointe at Folsom Ranch will feature high-end commercial buildings designed to serve the rapidly growing residential base in the area. Plans include a gas station as well as a mix of office and medical facilities, retail buildings, restaurants, and service providers. The site plan outlines more than 90,000 square feet of commercial space across multiple parcels, with options for sale or lease.

The location offers high visibility and accessibility, with frontage along the future Capital Southeast Connector and East Bidwell Street. It sits adjacent to several housing communities currently under construction and within close proximity to major healthcare campuses, educational facilities, and recreational amenities.

Southpointe supports Folsom’s broader goals of smart growth and transit-oriented development. With infrastructure now underway, the project aims to attract a wide range of businesses, services, and healthcare providers to meet the evolving needs of the Folsom Ranch community.

As construction progresses, Southpointe is expected to play a vital role in shaping the commercial identity of South Folsom, creating opportunities for economic development and community engagement in one of the region’s most dynamic growth areas.
