Calling all skaters and BMX riders: whether you’re brand new to the scene or already a seasoned shredder, an exciting new event is dropping into Folsom this May. The city’s Parks & Recreation Department invites you to the inaugural Skate & BMX Jam, taking place Saturday, May 17, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cummings Family Park, located at 1775 Creekside Drive.

This free event promises a fast-paced day of learning, riding, and connecting with the local skate and bike community. Participants will enjoy a full slate of activities including mini sessions for all skill levels, sponsor demos, expert tips, and hands-on workshops designed to help riders build, tune, and care for their boards and bikes.

Folsom Parks and Recreation officials cite the event as a way to unite the local skate and BMX scene while encouraging riders of all abilities to grow their skills in a welcoming and positive environment. From beginners just getting started to pros polishing up their technique, everyone will find something to enjoy.

All ages and skill levels are welcome, but safety comes first: helmets, elbow pads, and knee pads are mandatory for all participants. While the event is free, advance registration is required through the city’s Rec Trac system using Activity Code: 243059.

Cummings Family Park is home to one of the region’s top skate and BMX facilities, featuring a 21,000-square-foot skate facility with bowls, rails, and street elements, along with an adjacent bike park. The park was shaped with input from local skaters and youth groups like the Folsom Teen Council, ensuring it serves the needs of the community it was built for. Recent upgrades to the bike area include an elevated start hill, jumps, rollers, and berms that cater to beginner and intermediate riders alike.

Soak up good vibes, expand your skills, and enjoy the ride—it’s going to be a day to remember.
