A man was found deceased early Thursday morning along the Humbug-Willow Creek Trail, located across from Folsom Middle School on Blue Ravine Road in Folsom
Police and fire crews were called to the popular walking path around 8:30 a.m. after receiving reports of an unresponsive individual. Upon arrival, first responders confirmed the man was deceased at the scene, according to the Folsom Police Department.
A preliminary investigation by the Folsom Police Department determined that the death was not suspicious. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will investigate the cause of death. The man’s identity is not being released at this time, as authorities continue their investigation and work to notify the deceased’s family.
Many parents dropping off students at Folsom Middle School on Thursday morning noticed police and first responder activity. The incident caused minimal disruption, aside from a section of the trail being closed during the initial response and investigation.
“Officers responded and located the unresponsive male subject, who was ultimately pronounced deceased by Folsom Fire personnel. Detectives responded and determined no foul play was suspected,” said Deidre McAuliff of the Folsom Police Department. “Any information regarding the decedent will be made available by the coroner’s office after notification of next of kin.”
