Judy Ann Voelz 1949-2023
Judy Ann Voelz of Grass Valley passed away on July 10, 2023. She was born on January 3, 1949 and was 74 years old. Judy was born in Berkeley, California and lived in the Bay Area for 30 years. There, she met her high school sweetheart and husband of 56 years, John.
Judy loved spending time with her family more than anything. She loved commenting on her family’s social media posts-daily sending messages of love and encouragement. She was most happy hugging and kissing a grandbaby or great grandbaby. The orchestrator of all family get-togethers, Christmas parties, and celebrations. A lover of animals-especially her kitties. She enjoyed time in the garden, decorating, repurposing furniture, and antiques. She loved decorating magazines, home improvement shows, and binge-watching good dramas. She was an amazing cook. Her laugh was intoxicating, and her smile constant.
She is survived by her husband, John Voelz; her four sons and their wives-John (Tahni), Phil (Tammy), Nathan (Cassandra), and Josh (Kristin); her grandchildren Karysa (Charlie), Connor (Brenna), Kasidy (Victor), Jeremiah, Amanda, Darian, Karlie, and Kaia; her great-grandchildren-Clara, Betsy, Edison, and Kolbe; her sister Diane Kilcrease; nieces Debbie Schwatka (Brian), Tammie McCue (Patrick), and her nieces’ children Ash, Gina (Dylan), and Jennifer. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Douglas and Jackie Berntsen.
At Judy’s request, there will be no public memorial. There will be a private gathering with her family to celebrate her.
Judy was certain she would one day be at ultimate peace and talked constantly at the end of her life about being home with Jesus. If you would like to honor her, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society in her name.
