The Folsom Police Department recently welcomed two new faces to the local department. The additions are part of the department’s continued efforts towards reaching a fully staffed status as they continue to recruit lateral and new officers to the City of Folsom.

The newest additions that have just recently celebrated their first month on the force include Officer Brian Daniels and Michael Plummer.

According to Folsom Police Chief Rick Hillman, Daniels was born in Sacramento and came to the City of Folsom from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.  Officer Daniels has a BA degree in Government which he earned from CSUS. 

Prior to his law enforcement career, Officer Daniels served in the United States Army from 2012 to 2015, serving a tour in Afghanistan with the 10th Mountain Division. Prior to his stint with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, Officer Daniels worked as a police officer in Santa Clara.  In his off-time, Daniels enjoys playing baseball and jui jitsu, according to Hillman.

Officer Plummer was born in Portland, Oregon.  He has a BS degree in Communications Studies and a minor in Business Administration which he earned from Portland State University.  Officer Plummer came to Folsom from Tigard Police Department in Oregon.  Prior to serving on the force in Oregon, Officer Plummer worked as a police officer in Concord.  When he isn’t out protecting the community of Folsom, Plummer enjoys running, travel, and watching sports in his spare time.

The City of Folsom continues to recruit for both Lateral and Pre-Service Police Officers in an effort to fully staff its department that has undergone a number of retirements over the last two years.  The department is always looking for the best candidates to serve the City of Folsom.

A Lateral Police Officer performs a variety of law enforcement and crime prevention work. Lateral candidates are the journey-level classification in the Police Officer class series. It is designed for applicants who are currently working for a recognized law enforcement agency, have successfully completed the probation period for that agency, and possess a State of California Basic POST Certificate.

A Pre-Service Police Officer in the City of Folsom is an entry-level classification is designed for applicants who are currently in a POST Basic Academy or have recently graduated from a POST-approved Basic Academy, and/or are currently working as a peace officer for a recognized law enforcement agency but have not obtained a Basic POST Certificate.  This position performs sworn law enforcement and crime prevention duties involved in the protection of life and property; performs a variety of technical and administrative tasks in support of law enforcement services and activities; and performs other related duties as assigned.
