After a six day investigation, El Dorado County Sheriff’s Deputies made an arrest Thursday for an attempted bank robbery that occurred in El Dorado Hills previously. 

The initial incident occurred last Friday afternoon, May 10 when a male suspect, that has now been identified as Lucas John Dequine, 37, of Placerville, entered the El Dorado Savings Bank in El Dorado Hills.

Dequine reportedly entered the bank wearing a mask. According to the EDSO report, he used “threat of violence” and demanded money from the bank teller.  Investigators have not released full details of the activity that took place in the bank,  citing that such details are being withheld due to the ongoing investigation.

“We will confirm that no one was hurt and the suspect acted alone,” the department noted.

The suspect reportedly fled the scene and was not located when deputies arrived to thee area on the day of the incident. Detectives began their investigation, and with the cooperation of nearby businesses that shared surveillance camera footage of nearby businesses and assistance by additional law enforcement agencies,  they were able to later identify Dequine as the suspect. 

An arrest warrant was issued for Dequine and officers located him and took him into custody Thursday morning, May 16. Dequine was booked into the El Dorado County Jail in Placerville. According to booking information, he remained in custody Thursday afternoon with bail set at $60,000.

According to detectives the case is still a working investigation. They are asking if anyone witnessed any activity related to the incident on May 10 or had any additional information related to the case or suspect to contact Detective Katz at katzt@edso.org.
