One person was killed Sunday evening following a traffic collision near Granite Bay.
According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 5:45 p.m. when two vehicles, an Escalade and a Jeep, collided near the intersection of Douglas Boulevard and Barton Rd.
Initial reports indicate that the driver of the Jeep allegedly traveled into the intersection during a red light and collided into the Escalade. The collision caused the Jeep to overturn.
A passenger riding in the backseat of the Jeep, reportedly to be a minor, sustained fatal injuries. Two additional occupants in the vehicle were transported to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries.
The driver of the Escalade was reportedly uninjured.
At this time no additional information is being released as the incident remains under investigation.
