One person was trapped and died in a fiery vehicle accident on eastbound Highway 50 near the Aerojet exit Sunday morning. 

At 10:13 am, multiple units of the Sacramento Metro Fire District were dispatched to the scene of the single vehicle  crash and fire. The crash was reportedly spotted by crew members of Sac Metro, who were already traveling on Highway 50 en route to another call. 

Upon arrival, first responders were faced with a vehicle that had rolled over and come to rest on its driver’s side on the guardrail and was on fire. According to Metro Fire, the occupant was trapped inside of the vehicle and reportedly died at the scene. 

The California Highway Patrol reported that the victim was a 52-year-old male witnesses reported the vehicle suddenly swerved to the right before colliding head-on into the guardrail. The victim’s name has been withheld at this time for the privacy of the family at this time.

At this time the incident remains under investigation. Three engines, two trucks and a medic unit responded to the incident along with law enforcement from the California Highway Patrol, Rancho Cordova and Folsom.
