FOLSOM – Saturday morning, Folsom Firefighters quickly responded to a vehicle accident requiring extrication of an injured occupant. The incident happened at intersection of Oak Avenue Parkway and Riley Street shortly after 9:30 a.m. i
Upon arrival, emergency crews found the incident involved two vehicles, one of which overturned in the impact and came to rest precariously up on its side, requiring extra caution and techniques when accessing the victim trapped inside.
Firefighters provided medical care to the injured occupant of the overturned vehicle while other personnel stabilized it so the victim could be removed safely. The coordinated effort led to the eventual successful extrication of one patient, who was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of moderate injuries. Firefighters were on scene for one hour and 26 minutes due to the strategic extrication that was required.
Units that responded to the incident included multiple units from the Folsom Police Department, one Folsom Fire Battalion Chief 15, Engines 37 and 38, Truck 35, and Medic 37.
Due to medical privacy law, further details of the extent of injuries to the victim are not being released and there name has not been released. The accident remains under investigation by Folsom Police to determine what led up to and caused the collision.
