ORANGEVALE — A suspected drug dealer was arrested in Orangevale this week following a high-impact operation that uncovered illegal firearms, narcotics, and several thousand dollars in cash, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office..
Deputies from the Sheriff’s North Division High Impact Policing (HIP) team apprehended 35-year-old Daniel Reed at a local park during an active investigation. At the time of his arrest, Reed was allegedly found in possession of fentanyl, methamphetamine, a digital scale, and a large sum of cash.
Following the arrest, deputies executed a search warrant at Reed’s residence, where they discovered a significant cache of illegal weapons and currency. Among the items recovered were two rifles illegally possessed by a felon, an unserialized Polymer80 handgun—commonly referred to as a “ghost gun”—an unregistered Colt .45 handgun, an unregistered Glock 19X, multiple loaded magazines, assorted rounds of ammunition, and nearly $35,000 in cash.
Authorities confirmed that Reed is a convicted felon and is legally prohibited from owning or possessing firearms or ammunition. He was transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail and remains in custody without bail. His first court appearance is expected this week.
Due to current California law, Reed’s booking photo has not been released to the public. The Sacramento County Sheriffs Office is not disclosing the park Reed was apprehended at during the ongoing investigation.
