Third annual dog friendly event benefits Hearts 4 Heroes USA with plenty of furry fun
FOLSOM—Get ready for wagging tails, four-legged fashion, and a festival that’s as heartwarming as it is fun. Pawtoberfest is back in Historic Folsom, transforming the Zittel Family Amphitheater into a celebration of community, canine companionship, and a cause that makes a difference.
The family-friendly festival has quickly become one of the most unique fall traditions in the area, offering everything from pet vendors and demonstrations to games, giveaways, and the always-anticipated costume contest. Best of all, it’s free to attend, welcoming both dog owners and those who simply want to soak in the fun.
What sets Pawtoberfest apart is the mission at its core. The event benefits the Paw Platoon Therapy Dog Placement Program, an initiative of Hearts 4 Heroes USA. Hearts 4 Heroes USA, a local nonprofit, strives to provide firefighters, EMTs, and EMS personnel nationwide with the care and support they deserve, specializing in the placement of emotional support dogs with first responder agencies. The organization was founded by firefighters and emergency medical services members. “We work with passionate people who want to help first responders by supporting their mental health needs,” the group states. You can learn more about the organization at www.hearts4heroesusa.com.
For attendees, Pawtoberfest is packed with fun at every turn. Visitors can browse booths featuring local pet businesses, discover new products for their furry family members, and enjoy demonstrations from trainers who show just how smart and adaptable dogs can be. Families will also have the chance to meet some of the Hearts 4 Heroes handlers and their canine companions, learning firsthand how these dogs are making an impact in firehouses, police stations, and veteran communities.

The highlight for many is the Pawtoberfest Costume Contest at noon, where creativity knows no bounds. From tiny superheroes to dogs in matching outfits with their humans, the contest never fails to draw laughter and applause. Pre-registration is required to participate, and organizers recommend signing up early, as space is limited.
Even those without dogs will find plenty to enjoy. Food and drinks will be available, local businesses will be showcasing their best, and the festive atmosphere will have the whole amphitheater buzzing. It’s an opportunity to support a vital cause while spending a crisp fall day outdoors in the heart of Historic Folsom.
For Hearts 4 Heroes, the day is about more than just raising funds—it’s about raising awareness. With therapy dogs trained to serve those who serve us, every dollar raised helps expand the program and place more dogs where they’re needed most.
Whether you’re coming for the costumes, the camaraderie, or simply to celebrate the healing power of paws, Pawtoberfest promises a memorable mix of fun and purpose.
