San Joaquin Valley favorites bring their hardcore country roots to Historic Folsom August 7

This Thursday night, Historic Folsom’s Powerhouse Pub continues its weekly Free Country Thursday series with a performance by The Poison Oakies, a Central California band that’s been making waves across the Northern California country scene with their signature blend of classic country and Western sounds.

Formed in 2015 in the rural towns of the San Joaquin Valley and the Sierra Nevada foothills, The Poison Oakies grew up surrounded by country music legends. From Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings to Dwight Yoakam and George Strait, the sounds of the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s became the bedrock of their musical identity. What began as casual backyard jams for friends and family quickly evolved into performances at bars, clubs, and regional festivals.
