Members of the Folsom Fire Department and Folsom Police Department responded to a very tough call Sunday evening where a toddler died after an apparent medical call. 

According to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office, Theo Patterson, 2, was found unresponsive and pronounced deceased shortly after responded near a residence on Donnelly Circle in Folsom just before 7 p.m. According to reports, a medical emergency call dispatched first responders to the scene. When Folsom Fire and Medics arrived, the child was reportedly located in a vehicle at the time.  First responders attempted live saving procedures to the child upon arrival but were such efforts were unsuccessful.

At this time, the incident continues to be investigated by the Folsom Police Department and the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department. During the investigation, no further details as to the nature of the medical call are being disclosed by police or fire. According to the public records released by Sacramento County Coroner’s Office, the cause of death is still “undetermined” pending autopsy.

Folsom Police Department Commander Andrew Bates confirmed to the media that the investigation is continuing into the circumstances leading up to the call and the unexpected loss of the child. Bates noted that such an investigation is routine in the case of any unexpected death.

Folsom’s engine 37 and medic 37 were the responding units to the call Sunday evening. The department was on scene for 20 minutes before closing the call, according to dispatch records.
