FOLSOM — Two Folsom campuses were left damaged and covered in graffiti after vandals struck during the overnight hours of Tuesday, September 16, with the damage discovered Wednesday morning, according to information shared with parents by school officials.
Both Folsom High School and Sandra Gallardo Elementary were targeted in the incidents. In addition to widespread graffiti, Folsom High suffered 14 broken windows, forcing district maintenance crews to begin emergency repairs early Wednesday.
In a shared email, Sandra Gallardo Principal Doyal Martin and Folsom High Principal Howard Cadenhead said both schools are working with Folsom Police to fully investigate the incidents. They noted that Folsom Cordova Unified School District responded quickly Wednesday morning to remove graffiti at both campuses while the district maintenance team worked to repair broken windows and secure the Folsom High classrooms and administration building.
“The damage is discouraging and disruptive, but it is important to note that we do not believe this to be a safety threat beyond the current disruption,” the principals said in their statement. “Student and staff safety is our top priority. We will communicate in the near future if we have additional information we can share.”
The investigation remains ongoing. Folsom Police said detectives are reviewing surveillance video from the area and are asking anyone who may have seen suspicious activity or has information about the vandalism to contact the department. Officials emphasized that community tips can be critical in helping to identify those responsible.
