FOLSOM – Get ready Evil Dead fans, there’s another chance to take in the local show! The cult classic Evil Dead: The Musical has proven once again to be one of Sutter Street Theatre’s most in-demand productions, selling out performance after performance in Historic Folsom. Due to overwhelming demand, the theatre has announced an extended run through November 16, giving fans four additional chances to experience this frightfully fun phenomenon.
Directed by Mike Jimena, with music direction by Connie Mockenhaupt and choreography by Devin LePage and Mockenhaupt, Evil Dead: The Musical is an unapologetically over-the-top mix of horror, comedy, and audience participation. The show runs Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., and Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. inside the intimate Sutter Street Theatre at 717 Sutter Street.
This wildly interactive production invites audiences to join the chaos as five unsuspecting college students stumble upon an abandoned cabin in the woods and accidentally unleash an ancient evil. What follows is a hilarious blend of song, satire, slapstick, and splatter — complete with flying limbs, demonic jokes, and the now-famous “Splatter Zone,” where audience members are showered in fake blood during the show’s goriest (and funniest) moments.

A parody mash-up of The Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, and Army of Darkness, this musical delivers an experience that’s as thrilling as it is unpredictable. Even those unfamiliar with the films are guaranteed a good time — as long as they don’t mind getting a little messy. The result is one of the most interactive and immersive theatre experiences in the region, combining campy horror with the kind of audience energy that only Sutter Street Theatre can deliver.
Performances have been selling out rapidly, and the newly added dates are expected to do the same. Fans are encouraged to grab tickets early to avoid missing this Halloween season favorite.
