13-year old was struck by two vehicles in Rancho Cordova crosswalk Wednesday
The Rancho Cordova Police Department and Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office are seeking public assistance from surrounding communities to identify a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run incident earlier this week that seriously injured a 13-year-old girl. The girl was struck by two vehicles while crossing a crosswalk in Rancho Cordova.
On Friday, investigators released traffic camera images of the vehicle involved in the incident that were captured as it was driving away from the incident, which occurred Wednesday night at the intersection of Zinfandel Drive and International Drive, located south of Highway 50, around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
According to authorities, the driver of the first vehicle that struck the young girl stopped at the scene. However, while the girl was still on the ground, she was hit by another vehicle that fled the scene.
The images shared on Friday do not provide detailed visuals of the suspect vehicle but identify it as a silver-colored sedan. Authorities hope that someone in the area or the nearby communities may have seen the vehicle, has information about the owner’s whereabouts, or any additional information that could assist in the investigation.
Officials urge anyone with information about the vehicle or the crash to contact the Rancho Cordova Police Department at 916-875-9623.
