EL DORADO HILLS— A monthlong undercover investigation conducted by the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office High Tech Crimes Unit has led to the arrest of a Rancho Cordova man accused of attempting to meet a minor for sexual purposes in El Dorado Hills.

Detectives say the investigation began in early June when 29-year-old Alejandro Figuerosa allegedly initiated contact with what he believed was a juvenile female through an online platform. The account was in fact part of an undercover operation by the Sheriff’s High Tech Crimes Unit.

According to authorities, Figuerosa drove to the El Dorado Hills Town Center on three separate occasions in an effort to meet with the juvenile. During the course of the investigation, detectives discovered that Figuerosa was employed by the Washington Unified School District in Yolo County. Both the school district and the West Sacramento Police Department were immediately notified. At this time, no victims have been identified at the school where he worked.

On July 3, Figuerosa was taken into custody and booked without bail into the El Dorado County Jail in Placerville. He faces multiple felony charges, including contacting a minor with the intent to commit certain felonies (Penal Code 288.3(a)), arranging to meet with a minor for lewd purposes (Penal Code 288.4(b)), sending harmful material to a minor with intent to seduce (Penal Code 288.2(a)(2)), using a minor in the production of obscene matter (Penal Code 311.4(c)), attempted kidnapping of a minor under age 14 (Penal Code 664/207(b)), and an additional charge of arranging a meeting with a minor (Penal Code 288.4(a)(1)).
