A fire that broke out in a hotel room at the Hampton Inn in Folsom on Sunday afternoon has caused damage to several rooms and floors of the multi-story hotel located on Placerville Road.

The fire, which initially it was reported to be in a fourth-floor hotel room at 1:57 p.m Sunday, was quickly extinguished by the Folsom Fire Department. However, the hotel’s sprinkler system activated, causing significant water damage in multiple areas.

At the time the fire broke out the hotel was safely evacuated and no injuries were reported, and hotel staff report that the damage was limited to the hotel’s interior. Hotel staff told Folsom Times later Sunday afternoon that all hotel guests have been allowed to return to their rooms and damage isn’t expected to hinder hotel operations.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Multiple units from both Folsom and El Dorado Hills responded to the incident and remained on scene for just under two hours Sunday.
