A man accused of sexually abusing multiple children over a span of decades is now in custody on 23 felony counts, as authorities continue to search for additional, unreported victims who may have crossed paths with him in Sacramento County and beyond.

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began in May 2024 when a social worker contacted deputies after a teenage patient disclosed that she had been sexually abused by a family member, identified as Christopher Brinson, when she was between the ages of 6 and 10. The disclosure triggered a lengthy investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Child Abuse Bureau, which ultimately identified multiple victims and led to the filing of criminal charges.

Following the investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Brinson, who was located in Alabama and taken into custody on Dec. 9, 2025. He was later extradited back to California and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he remains held without bail. Prosecutors have charged Brinson with 23 felony counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14.

Authorities say the alleged abuse began more than 30 years ago and continued over a significant period of time, raising concerns that additional victims may not yet have come forward. Detectives believe some of those victims may have been friends or acquaintances of Brinson’s children and are urging anyone with information to contact law enforcement.

As part of the effort to identify other potential victims, the Sheriff’s Office has released both Brinson’s current booking photograph and an older photograph from around the year 2000. Investigators say the decision was made out of concern that individuals may recognize Brinson from different periods of their lives, particularly given the length of time the alleged abuse is believed to have occurred.

Detectives also noted that Brinson lived in numerous locations over the years, including multiple neighborhoods throughout the Sacramento region and other parts of Northern California, as well as out of state. Previously known Sacramento-area addresses associated with Brinson include the 8200 and 8500 blocks of Cottongin Way; the 2600 and 3800 blocks of Rio Linda Boulevard; the 1600 block of Eldridge Avenue; the 5200 block of Mack Road; the 6700 block of Briggs Drive; the 2600 block of San Juan Road; the 100 block of Redwood Avenue; the 200 block of Wilson Avenue; the 300 block of Cleveland Avenue; the 1900 block of Ethan Way; the 3200 block of 53rd Street; the 1100 block of 37th Street; the 8500 block of Danridge Drive; the 4400 block of 39th Avenue; and Palermo Court.

Investigators said Brinson has also lived in Visalia, Stockton and Farmersville in California, as well as in Billings, Montana, and Mobile, Alabama, further expanding the possibility that additional victims may reside outside the immediate Sacramento area.
