The Sacramento County Office of Emergency Services (SacOES) recently welcomed emergency service professionals from 20 countries for an international exchange of ideas. Sponsored by the U.S. State Department and Global Ties, the event took place on September 11, facilitating discussions on operational challenges faced worldwide.
SacOES staff, including Jason D’Alessio, John Shalowitz, Nicole Benson, and Lynn Pesely, shared insights into the county’s experiences with past flood events. They emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships and community recovery programs that help mitigate the trauma of disasters.
The meeting underscored the vital role of volunteers in disaster response and highlighted the need for continuous communication and education among responders and communities to effectively manage emergencies.
