Fifty-six individuals were arrested during an undercover prostitution sting conducted by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, aimed at combating human trafficking and prostitution in the county.

The recent operation, spearheaded by the Sheriff’s Special Investigations Bureau (SIB) Detectives and supported by various law enforcement units including North, South, and East Patrols, resulted in a total of 56 arrests and the recovery of an unserialized handgun, according to the department.

Detectives utilized a dual strategy, with deputies posing undercover as both sex workers and sex buyers, according to the department. 

Sheriff Jim Cooper emphasized the significance of such operations in identifying victims, dismantling criminal networks, and bringing offenders to justice. He reaffirmed the Sheriff’s commitment to combating human trafficking in the region, underscoring ongoing efforts by the Sheriff’s Office to conduct similar operations regularly throughout Sacramento County.

Each individual faces charges related to solicitation as part of the ongoing effort to combat illicit activities in the community.
