Fire crews from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District and the Folsom Fire Department responded Monday to contain a residential fire in Orangevale, stopping flames from spreading beyond an accessory dwelling unit and garage on the property.
The fire was reported at 11:16 a.m. on Almond View Court after a neighbor spotted smoke coming from the home and called 911. Dispatch logs show multiple Metro Fire units responded, along with additional units from Folsom who responded through the county’s mutual aide program.
When firefighters arrived, they found active flames coming from the front of the ADU and fire involvement in the garage area. Crews initiated an aggressive attack while conducting a full search of the structure and surrounding property to ensure no one was inside.
According to radio traffic from the scene, firefighters were able to move a vintage car out of the garage area as they worked to protect the property. Crews applied water from multiple angles to stop the fire’s progression.
Officials said the coordinated response allowed firefighters to contain the fire to the ADU and garage, preventing it from extending to the main residence. Despite visible flames on arrival, the interior of the ADU sustained limited damage due to the rapid knockdown.
No one was home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. Arson investigators responded as part of standard procedure. The cause remains under investigation.
